Snorkel time

One of the girls we were hanging out with was determined to go snorkelling round the island, she went out and found the best price and got it all organised. All we had to do was turn up, she was a god send Eva, the most organised person ever and actually got us doing something instead of lazy by the pool.

So 9am on a nice sunny morning the guy turns up on his bike to take us to the boat, his sister and brother also turned up their bikes, so on we hopped and a ten minute drive later we were there. I say this pretty blasé but we were all shitting a brick as most of us had never been on a bike. After the first 5 minutes though I relaxed my death grip on the driver and actually started to enjoy it.

We were then on the boat and off on our trip.

We made 4 stops along both the islands where the coral and fishes were really easy to see whist snorkelling. As you can tell by the first picture I did get brave enough to use my camera underwater and it survived! Not really sure which pictures are from which stop as water does tend to look very similar.

The fish were soooo close, at one point I was taking a picture a fish swam between my face and the back of the camera. Was clearly photo shy.

Although my camera isn't too shabby, being that it still works after being underwater, the pictures just can't do it justice on the actual colours everything were.

I was fully having my little mermaid moment whilst seeing all this and happily singing under the sea in my head whilst swimming around.

At the first stop we made Nik was a little unsure about snorkelling to start with so took her time to get in, unfortunately it wasn't just her swimming by the boat once she was in. Im sure you've all heard the story now but yes Nik was stung by a jelly fish and yes she did ask the boat driver if he needed to pee on it. (Safe to say friends does not always give the best advise as the peeing was not necessary). Apparently it stung like a rude word and meant she was out of the water for most of the trip. But persistence paid off as we managed to persuade her to go in the water for a quick snorkel so she could see all the fishes.

Before we knew it we were at our last stop and seeing the last of the fish for the day.

Was absolutely exhausted time we'd finished, snorkeling is basically secret excercise, who knew?! One bike ride back and we were able to crash by the pool. Was a really cool day and can't wait to go snorkelling. Again roll on the Great Barrier Reef.
