Australia time-Our two days in Darwin

So Australia, I had no idea what to expect. My basic knowledge of the country being constructed from Neighbours, Priscilla queen of the desert and Hugh Jackman (also that Justin Timberlake's 20/20 world tour finishes here, that ones for you cass!!). Safe to say Darwin was none of these things but a real nice surprise.

We arrived on our flight from bali at 5.40am, not fully alert we somehow managed to find the airport shuttle and arrive at the hostel. The nice receptionist told us she'd find us a room for 11am, which meant two very sleepy girls had 5 hours to kill. We asked for some advise and were told to head to the harbour. As we got closer we saw the sun rising, a first and hopefully last of this trip, and it was stunning.

The harbour area was beautiful, although for the first time since England we were both freezing cold. We needed warming up and found the perfect cafe to do so.

The sun eventfully started to warm everything up and we spotted a few hawks/eagles? flying around.

It was soon 11 and we were in our room in record time and asleep even quicker. I'd love to say we didn't waste the day and sleep for too long, but we woke up at 2pm headed out for food and some exploring. Found the best food shop ever, not biased at all on this one.

Darwin is surprisingly quite a small town, for some reason I assumed all places were going to be big because oz is such a big country. I feel a few of these 'ideas' I've got of oz are going to be corrected pretty soon. But anyway as we saw the sun rise it was only fitting for our first day to see it set too.

The second day we tried to make up for our napping the day before and went for a walk, boy it was a long walk. We did see so,e good sights though, found a beach, did a coastal walk and found a place called Fannie bay. And yes I did chuckle at that.

So there you have it 2 days in Darwin, was pretty cool can't wait to see what the rest of oz brings. And of course no day would be complete without a koala or two.

Fingers crossed I'll be seeing the real deal soon!!
