Fraser Island

Our next adventure was a 3 day 2 night camping tour around Fraser Island. I say tour but it was a 4X4 drive yourself tag along shindig which meant 8 people were grouped together and put in a car for the entire time. We stuck gold with our team luckily and had the best time. But more on that throughout the next couple of posts. Today is all about day 1. Had an early start, again. Managed to packed up all the cars with bags, food and booze.

And then started the journey.

Our first stop was the car ferry over, a little less iow this time.

4 out of the 8 group selfie (possibily the best 4 but that would be bias to say)

And then we were back on our way, this time driving in sand. As Fraser is an island with no real roads, mostly just sand, sand and more sand. Which driving on is a bit like ice, so you can see the reason for the big old cars now.

Our first official stop on the tour was lake wabby, and to quote Daz our guide "a nice easy walk".

So 40 minutes later, up and down lots of hills and steps.... We made it. Slightly out of breath. Some might say it was worth it, and I'd have to agree.

I can say the walk back was just as enjoyable.. But our next stop was the shipwreck. This one is pretty self explanatory though.

We eventually made it to our camp for the next couple of days.

Actually wasn't too bad, we had a little trip to see the famous pinnacles.

Which we were told were multi coloured sands, so this is what we found.

This is sadly not them, just coloured mouldy stuff. If you look in the background of this picture you can just about make them out. The coloured cliffs. This just shows what happened when you go it alone without a guide.

Was a very lovely walk with the sun setting.

Dinner time and it was very much a group effort. And I know you will all ask but no that isn't ed sheeran cutting up the carrot, sadly the guy also didn't like being called ed. Something I wasn't to good at remember for the trip, as you can guess we became best of friends...

And then it was campfire time, with marshmallows of course.
