Bye bye brisbane

Just over a week ago we left our temporary home brisbane and hit the road again. Was a little sad to say goodbye as it really had started to feel like a home from home. But the rest of  Australia was calling  so we packed up our bags and headed on. This post is just some of the pictures that didn't make blog post but are no less worthy.

Our flat

The building site next door, which used to be a hostel that my brother stayed in when he was in Brisbane (small world).

Our yummy roast we made

Little work selfie whilst working as a receptionist.

Sunday silent disco fun.

Margaritas and tacos

Another trip to the open air cinema to see dirty dancing, was soooo good.

And packing up to head off on our travels again, not too many bags....

XXXX brewery

Our last week in brisbane we decided to finish off any tourist bits we'd missed and the brewery was top of the list. Having been recommended by brother and not having done one before, I felt it was a must do.

The brand XXXX (or 4 X) is the top Queensland beer brand and been around awhile. Now I can't remember the exact date it opened but before the telephones lines were working and the ordering took a while. This is a delightful fact I learnt in the first part of our tour, the history of 4X. Sounds a tad boring but was to me the most interesting part of the tour. I learnt why brown bottles are used for beer too, my inner geek was in her element.

Now we weren't allowed cameras on the tour so I made up for it before and after.

And oh yes we got freebie hats, keepers I'm not sure of. (Also no one mention the pug on my jumper to Charles please).

The tour took us round the entire factory, showing us all the processes. The tour guide definitely knew his stuff. Once we'd finished we got 4 sample sizes of the beers they actually produce, not being a massive beer drinker I wasn't too keen but they all tasted pretty good to my inexperienced palate.

After the tour we stopped with the other people on our tour and grabbed lunch, only 5 of us but a really nice one. Also gave us time to drink our two bonus pots (half pints) we got as extras.

Being that I wasn't sure if I'd enjoy the tour, I came away really happy about the whole experience (and that had nothing to do with the beer I'd consumed)

Our evening was spent back on the ferries seeing brisbane at night for one of our last times...

We ended the night at our good friend Max's, that would be max brenner the chocolate shop.

Time to lick the screen again...

All in all a good day indeed.

Throw back Thursday: sandy's last day

I can't believe how quickly the three weeks went, but before we knew it we were spending our last day with Sandy before she jumped on her plane home. So naturally we spent it in one of our favourite spots, Southbank.

We stopped of for lunch first at a nice little street cafe. As you can see the food was delicious. And after we stopped for a little treat.

Just your standard nitrogen ice cream.. Yum!

Looks more like a science lab than ice cream shop.

Our finished product, I went for lemon meringue which they actually blow torched the top of.

Making me hungry just thinking of it again. We then spent the afternoon sunning ourself by the lagoon and river.

Not a bad way to spend your day at all.

Happy birthday Rob

Today (or possibily yesterday due to poor internet) is my brothers birthday. I won't broadcast his age around but let's just say he's got a big milestone next year. I feel like so much has changed with you since I left the country, you got a new job and only gone and got engaged too!! But no fear bro, no matter how much changes you'll always be my going to see a musical buddy of choice. I figured it was only fair to embarrass you like i did Jill for her birthday but know it comes from love and a only a small bit of payback for my usual Facebook birthday embarrassment you give me.

So let's roll the pictures.....

Some rather younger ones there, with you clearly leading the way on the latest fashion of yellow plastic...

Next up some with your favourite sisters

This one is pure vintage and awful.

Scrubbing up well for Jill's wedding.

And one of my favourites as it catches your 'smirk' classic rob. Always been a bonus that you pull his face whenever lying, easiest book ever to read. Also our favourite nephew James as a wee little baby too.

A rare group shot of all of us, which will soon will soon be expanding next year....

....when you marry the lovely Helen.

You are my big brother and although we may not have always seen eye to eye, you taught me well. My James Bond and action film love is all from you, you trained me at a young age. I can't wait for your wedding next year as i'm really happy for you that you've found someone to spend your life with. Because let's be honest, me, Jill and mum thought you'd never find someone who would put up with your jokes!! Enough of the old emotions from this old bean and I'm going to leave this post on one of my favourite Sunday dinner Rob stories. "You know it was just a menopause" "no rob, you mean mega pause" (still gets me hahaha)
